This is about the confusions of an enchantress, making her way in a world she can't control.

Her father is gone, her mother is spending time with a younger boyfriend, her brother is becoming a teenager and no longer has interest in her.

At the same time, she finds herself capable of startling acts of wildness—she wears a wolf suit, bites her mom, can't always control her outbursts.

During a fight at home, she flees and runs away into the woods. She finds a magical bag there, grabs it, and ends up on the open sea, destination unknown.

She lands on an island and soon she becomes queen. But things get complicated when she realizes that the people there want as much from her as she wants from them.
