Rectum Crocodile by Marvin M'Toumo

Photography: Samara Krähenbühl

With Rectum Crocodile, Marvin M’toumo, his fashion brand, and his living art company continue their hybrid, political, and romantic work initiated with "Concours de Larmes", the first performance blending runway, poetry, dance, and performance.

On a tropical island, panthers, mulattos, devils, and coconut trees move in unison, echoing a cry of anger and love. On stage, seven performers and numerous other characters tackle questions of identity, stereotype, and discrimination across multiple scenes, guided by the determined and mischievous voice of a not-so-innocent child. Inspired by Caribbean carnivals, bodies, voices, and couture costumes make themselves heard and seen, like a resounding revenge. A decolonial tale, a runway spectacle, or a danced poetry, Rectum Crocodile questions slavery, colonialism, white masculinity, and spits them out.
