Images circulate at rapid speeds and in every corner of the digital and real world, they wash up on screens, walls and clothes in a continuous and repetitive echo. MATT FINISH is a new project that reconfigures the surfaces of images and their translation across these contexts. A collaboration between a photographer (Agnieszka Chabros) and a fashion designer (Brittany Rouse), the project explores the intersection between garment and image through a series of special edition garments created from upcycling found clothing. The project focuses on the repurposing of both clothing and image with each piece featuring printed images taken by Chabros, applied to the surface of the garments.
But the project is a double entendre: the images featured on the MATT FINISH garments show models wearing the original garments, reworked into the limited edition pieces. The images standing in as windows into the previous life of the garments.
KLUB KOSMOS represents a third iteration of this image looping. It is an image story that shows the MATT FINISH captured once again as images in Chabros’ Polish home town of Wrocław. The pieces are worn by her family and friends who bring their own creative input as both models and stylists of the collection.
