Can you show us some pictures of what first inspired this brand?
When the brand first started, how long did research & development take? What was the most difficult hurdle to overcome?
When we first tried to create the sole, the design was so unconventional and since we had no prior technical knowledge, it was incredibly difficult to find a factory willing and able to produce it.


What Japanese subcultures has influenced the foundation of the brand?
A: The way of exaggerating.

You have said before that you do love sci-fi, what’s the craziest theory you believe in?
Mikio Sakabe: Thinking seriously about reincarnation, I’ve come to feel that if the afterlife is free from the constraints of time, then upon rebirth the same soul could exist across past and present eras simultaneously. Seen this way, perhaps all living beings on Earth are expressions of a single soul’s cycle of reincarnation. I thought that if people saw the world this way, it could become a more peaceful place.
