In his most recent series of paintings, 'Somatic Transmission & Qualiascope', Caroll Dunham continues with the artistic style he has been developing since the 1970s. Focused on abstraction and figuration, the organic and the geometric, it is not uncommon for him to place these anonymous fictional people within framed plans of a world we as an audience are placed to observe. Becoming voyeurs of these green figures, Dunham wants us to question our human nature, through exploring that of theirs: their bodies, their sexuality, their gender.
Heavily inspired by Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism he stylizes his work with Pop Art too and therefore produces these cartoon-ish, sci-fi landscapes. This is series is now solo-exhibited at Galerie Max Hetzler (57 rue du temple) until June 4, 2022.
