Inviting students from the lycée Paul Poiret (Paris) to begin their costume design studies with one of the most iconic characters of the commedia dell’arte is a way to confront the obvious. Harlequin leaves no room for detours, as he speaks to us so clearly of textiles, assemblages, sewing, colors, and comedy. This textbook case, interpreted in twelve variations around the bodysuit, naturally took the form of a photo series captured by Julia Andreone. Makeup (Anthony Preel), hairstyling (Nastumi Ebiko), and performance (Alice Mauchamp and Clara Eon) gave life to Goldoni’s mischievous little genius.
