Nike Superrep Studio x Novembre a week at Lafayette Anticipations
The SuperRep studio, powered by Nike training, was co-hosted by Novembre Global and Rinse France, as cultural initiative around sports and art practices at Lafayette Anticipations in Paris, on January 11 and 12, 2020.
Expanded training experiences with the Nike Air Zoom SuperRep
The Nike Air Zoom SuperRep is an innovative, super reactive shoe built specifically for high intensity training. Surrounded by selected coaches, we explored the different facets of the product. For each workout, a live sonic act was exclusively created and performed, working within the sound of bodies in effort and motion. Musicans involved were Kodäma, Neue Grafik, NSDOS & Crystallmess, all invited by Rinse France.
Born in 2014, Rinse France is a radio station, a music label, a network of creatives producing sound and sound-related events... Daughter of the legendary UK pirat radio statio Rinse FM.
Movement & Mind
The roundtable « Movement and Mind » tackled the relationship between physical movement and the representation of the body. Using that prism, we interrogated the influence of sports on the mind, and explored practices of self-consciousness and self-appropriation through the body. Speakers included training coach Killian Loddo, yoga teacher Maria Schönhofer, writer Alice Pfeiffer and performer Thibault Lac.
Moderation Martha Kirszenbaum
"The philosopher Michel de Certeau wrote that the footsteps are what make the city. Movement is the interaction between yourself and the exterior world. From walking to running to dancing, it's the very basic connection between the inner and outer." Alice Pfeiffer
"The only way to positively approach a physical practice over time seems to be by remaining consistently curious." Thibault Lac
"Physical movement is the first step to happiness." Maria Schönhofer
Movement & Sound
The roundtable « Movement and Sound » investigated the role of music in life and in sports, as well as the relationship between sound, body and movement. It examined various spaces (the white cube, the night-club, the gym...) and how human bodies have the potential to exist as a territories, and sound can be essential in community dynamics. Speakers included photographer and co-founder of LA CREOLE Fanny Viguier, co-founder of the label Collapsing Market and Novembre sound editor Cyrus Goberville, coach Akim ben Mzakar and artist Paul Maheke.
Moderation Martha Kirszenbaum
"Generating movement, through any performative practice, is a relevant way to upset our ecological approach of perception." Cyrus Goberville
"As an artist using performance and dance, movement makes up for a lot of things in my everyday life: it has almost become a coping mechanism." Paul Maheke
"Nowadays, one can get involved in sports without really realizing it, simply by committing to sharing a moment and a space with others. Music and sound also become relevant in a new way, connecting the body and the mind." Fanny Viguier
The Nike Air Zoom SuperRep is an innovative shoe built specifically for the rigors of high-intensity classes.
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts alternate bouts of going all-out with periods of rest to recover. The movements are diverse — burpees, kettlebell swings, lunges, mountain climbers, push-ups, squats and many more — and are sequenced to get maximum impact from maximum effort.
Absolutely worth trying!
